Taittinger Nocturne Sec

Out of stock

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Pale gold in color with brilliant gold highlights, Nocturne is punctuated by a proliferation of tiny, delicate bubbles. The nose is subtle and fresh, with aromas of peach, dried apricot and white flowers offset by notes of breadcrust. The gentle dosage, just above the Extra Sec level, maintains an optimum balance between crisp acidity and mellowness on the palate, which is dominated by stone and tropical fruit and suggestions of raisins and fruit in syrup. The finish is long, full and delicately sweet. This versatile cuvée is a refreshing apéritif, perfect with refined desserts or after dinner, and is an excellent compliment to first courses, such as foie gras, that are classically served with an off-dry wine.

Wine EnthusiastIn the strange world of Champagne, Sec (dry) on the label means a wine that is less dry than Brut. It is more to do with fullness and weight than sugar. This wine bears ripe fruit, flavors of peaches, creamy pears and light nougat and spice character. Pair this with richly sauced foods.

Wine AdvocateThe NV Sec Nocturne offers good depth and richness in a soft, accessible style with good overall complexity and a round, generous personality. Admittedly, I am not a fan of Sec Champagnes, but this is a fine effort in its category. Disgorged: mid June, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012.
