Yves Cuilleron St Joseph l'Amarybelle 2013
Style: Pleasant, expressive wine. Sweet spices, dark and jammy fruit. Delicate tobacco notes offer a charming and elegant nose. Well balanced mouth, fleshy and velvety tannins and powerful spices finish. Ageing: can be drunk young, but also laid down for a decade or so. Food match: lamb and pork (e.g. filet mignon of pork in a chorizo crust).
Taittinger Nocturne SecPale gold in color with brilliant gold highlights, Nocturne is punctuated by a proliferation of tiny, delicate bubbles. The nose is subtle and fresh, with aromas of peach, dried apricot and white flowers offset by notes of breadcrust. The gentle dosage, just above the Extra Sec level, maintains an optimum balance between crisp acidity and mellowness on the palate, which is dominated by stone and tropical fruit and suggestions of raisins and fruit in syrup. The finish is long, full and delicately sweet. This versatile cuvée is a refreshing apéritif, perfect with refined desserts or after dinner, and is an excellent compliment to first courses, such as foie gras, that are classically served with an off-dry wine.
Henriot Brut SouverainOn the eye: The colour is characterised by a brilliant light straw-gold. Effervescence is dense and persistent, with fine, regular bubbles. On the nose: Initially the nose is precise, expressive and refreshing, with notes of citrus and yellow fruit; floral fragrances (vine flowers, elderflowers) and pastry aromas (brioche, toast, grilled almond) follow. On the palate: A lively, fresh and balanced attack, with pastry, spice (vanilla) and fruity (morello cherry, candied plum) notes. The full texture precedes a clean, refreshing finish marked by citrus fruit aromas.
