Hugel Jubilee Gewurztraminer 2008

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Superb, lively young colour, very bright, soft pistachio green and straw yellow with lemony highlights, richly unctuous on the glass. Very expressive, complex, open bouquet with a flattering touch of over-ripeness : currant, blossom honey, cinnamon and gentle spices, mango, apricot, fresh almond, jasmine; white rose and freesia, all in harmony. Flatteringly soft, silky and supple on the palate, beautifully opulent and perfectly balanced, with a scented aromatic finish and above all the touch of freshness that gives it poise and elegance. This wine is tasting superby now, and will enchant you in 3 to 5 years. Enjoy it on its own at any time, before a meal, between meals, or with a terrine of duck foie-gras, with game, with fruit tarts or with exotic dishes flavoured with gentle spices, curry, curcuma or tandoori.

Wine SpectatorFinely balanced, with a streak of minerality underscoring well-meshed flavors of white peach, lemon curd and candle wax. Juicy throughout and silky in texture, this elegant version features a zesty edge to the lasting finish. Drink now through 2023. 25 cases imported.

Wine AdvocateBlood orange, pink grapefruit, caraway, musky animal scents, and a variety-typical hint of litchi all inform the nose of Hugel's 2008 Gewurztraminer Jubilee, then remerge on a palate both creamy and silken and yet also possessed of a vivacity and primary juiciness one seldom encounters in its genre. Peppery, saline, and zesty notes - along with a continuation of caraway - make for a finish of tactile intensity. This should prove fascinating at table for at least the next dozen years.
