Raats Original Chenin Blanc 2016

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

The wine has a distinctive yellow apple and pineapple core, alongside notes of green melon and limes. The wine is thus bursting with fresh fruit flavours. The wine ends with zesty citrus flavours, and has a long mineral finish. The Raats Original Chenin Blanc 2016 is a classic example of a Chenin Blanc made from older vines, grown in very specific soil types. Now in its 16th year of production, the consistency in quality is unquestionable. An easy-to-pair wine since it has a wide flavour profile, but we especially recommend it with curry or similar spicy dishes as well as sushi and oysters.

Wine SpectatorRacy, with quinine and lime notes leading the core of honeysuckle, peach and green apple fruit along. Stays fresh through the lengthy finish. Drink now through 2019. 2,000 cases imported.

Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Chenin Blanc Original comes from vines planted on granite and sandstone soils, and is fermented and aged in stainless steel. It has a fresh red apple and quince jelly bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a slightly waxy entry, notes of nectarine and a hint of star fruit, a pleasant salinity with a crisp, dry, mouth-cleansing finish.

Wine EnthusiastClean and bright, this opens with light aromas of fresh green apple, underripe pear and melon rind. The lightweight palate is fresh and racy, with a friendly and enjoyable mouthwatering finish. Drink now-2018.
