Mt. Brave Malbec 2013

SKU 09028

The 2013 growing season was another near perfect year. With only a day or two approaching 100 degrees, temperatures were steady and in the sweet spot of 85°-95°F. Dry conditions throughout allowed for ideal maturation and flavor concentration. On the palate of the 2013 Mt. Brave Malbec killer spice overlays rich boysenberry and black currants. A pop of fruit carries across to the finish which is clearly mountain structure based.

Wine EnthusiastFrom a site that reaches up to 1,800 feet and dates back grape-growing wise to before the Civil War, this wine is bold and beautiful. It's a study in dusty leather, black pepper and cigar, allowing sauvage, savory aspects to speak louder than fruit. Full bodied and robustly structured, it offers a memorable Tahitian-vanilla note on the finish.

Wine AdvocateThe outstanding 2013 Malbec, 100% Malbec all from Mt. Veeder, offers blackcurrants, licorice, incense and floral notes. The wine has fabulous fruit on the attack and mid-palate. It's full-bodied, spicy and pure, with supple tannins, and should drink well for at least a decade or more.
